Disgraced Congressman Shows Up at Health Care Forum

So, Vito Fossella came to a health care forum on the South Shore of Staten Island last night and spoke for about 10 minutes about health care. About 100 people attended including a member of the “Staten Island Tea Party.” (The crowd applauded when she mentioned it.)
Fossella spoke about how the industry could not be reformed by “one speech or one piece of legislation.” He criticized the Obama administration for rushing the process. He then used a metaphor of a four bedroom house with one room out of shape. “You don’t tear down the whole house,” he said. The crowd went wild.
Vito also said that “the services and care you receive are gonna be comprised” with health care reform, and that “it will do more harm than good.”
The crowd loved it, they loved him. Of course nobody mentioned the fact that last year he was caught driving drunk on the way to see his mistress. But, this is Staten Island.
I have spoken to a local pol who says Fossella might be looking to get back into politics, maybe run for his old seat in Congress if this whole health care thing blows up.
Rep Mike McMahon (D) is holding a town hall forum on health care next week, should be interesting.
