Chaos at Grand Central Terminal

Grand Central Terminal is one of New York City’s busiest train stations. Throughout the day, there are a multitude of subway trains transferring people within the city and commuter rail trains traveling to upstate New York and New Haven, Connecticut. In addition to the trains, there are crowds of people who come to enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants located in the the station or simply come to take pictures and admire the sites.
What is your reason for passing through?

I’m a photographer from Maine and made sure that Grand Central Terminal was one of my destinations on a recent trip. It combines so many iconic images, from the clock to the train tunnels to the Grand Concourse to the whispering gallery to the even the ticket windows. I wish I had arrived in New York via train rather than by bus, but I still didn’t feel I had arrived until I had been there. I’m embarrassed to admit that I only recognized most of the most iconic sights from their use on the Saturday Night Live Stage.

jkrlin—I think it’s okay. Sometimes we do only recognize certain things because of a show, movie, or perhaps a music video that we have seen. Hopefully you will be able to come back to New York and explore more what it has to offer!
Michael—It always seems that people in New York are rushing despite what time it is;)
