Rescue Dog Walkers in Kensington

Two little Chihuahuas sit bug-eyed in a cage out side Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Kensington Brooklyn. One of the workers there, Valerie Greenblat,17, owns a Chihuahua herself. When I say I would love to own one, she laughs.

“Take one of these then.”

Unfortunatley, I can’t have a dog, I’m too busy and have a tiny apt.  However, Sean Casey Animal Rescue provides a free service for dogs and dog-lovers alike.  Anyone can come and walk the dogs for a bit. It’s great for the dogs and fun for people, like myself, who aren’t up to ownership. Sean’s place is a very popular stop for neighborhood animal lovers.

“There are people here everyday” says Sean, speaking about the dog-walkers.

New dogs are brought in everyday, checked out, rehabilitated if necessary and then put up for adoption. Those that aren’t immediately placed in new homes need some extra TLC.  The dog-walkers provide it.

I haven’t heard of this before and thought it was a cool idea and a great way to help a dog in need.
