The Yankees celebrated their 27th World Series win with a parade on Broadway on November 6. Over one million fans lined the streets along the Canyon of Heroes, to cheer on the team’s win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Local high school, sanitation, and emergency services bands played along the parade route and kept the fans cheering for the Bronx Bombers. The last time the Yankees celebrated a parade was in 2001. This is the first championship for manager Joe Girardi, who is in his second year after replacing Joe Torre. The win also marked a milestone for Alex Rodriguez, who now has his first World Series ring and joined the team in 2003.
